Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain (born March 24 1977) is an American actor and producer. She is known for her role in films that feature feminist themes, she has won numerous awards which include an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one the 100 most influential persons across the globe in 2012. Chastain was drawn to acting from an early age and made her professional performance debut in the year 1998, playing Shakespeare's Juliet. After her studies in acting at Juilliard School, she was given a talent deal with John Wells. She appeared as a regular guest star on several television series and played roles in various stage productions. Following her film debut at the age of 31, in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain had her breakthrough in 2011 with six film releases including the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). She was awarded Academy Award nominations for playing an uninitiated socialite in period drama The Help (2011) and as a CIA analyst in the suspense thriller Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science-fiction films Interstellar (2014), The Martian (2015) and It Chapter Two (2018) were more commercially successful. Her strong-willed portrayals in the dramas The Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were also highly acclaimed. She went on to portray Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021), winning the Academy Award for Best Actress, and Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain is the investor and founder of Freckle Films, a production company that encourages diversity in film. She has a strong voice on mental health issues, as in relation to gender and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
